Women are more likely to get HIV from unprotected sex due to the increased amount of tissue for transmission. Maybe Forrest just dodged the bullet.

It was never mentioned, so it was assumed that no she didn't. She did have AIDS, too. Don't you remember she said that she had caught a virus and the doctors didn't know what it was and there wasn't a cure or anything. She didn't die of cancer.

Nowhere in the movie did it say she died of AIDS. There are multiple diseases she could have had in the 80's that doctors wouldn't have known what they were.

I think she definitely got a STD and died from it. She was pretty much taking every drug possible and sleeping with whomever was in the bed she passed out in. What a slut, i hated her character.
