Hi I live in Arizona. For Thanksgiving I am going to North Dakota, I need to know what kind of shoes people are wearing in cold weather right now. They of course have to be cute, no snow boots. Can someone fill me in on what is in up north this year.

I live in ND. We wear normal shoes. Leather cross trainers or loafers are usually enough. Lately it has been 65 to 80 F. Usually there is not much snow until mid November. I would not wear sandals or open toed shoes

Well, I grew up in Wisconsin and I can tell you from personal experience that it is very hard to feel cute when it's 17 degrees outside.
It's going to be icy, snowy and cold so you want a shoe that is going to work in all of these three circumstances, but not look like a moon boot. I had a pair of pink ones in fourth grade that I'll NEVER live down.
I would highly recommend something in the style of Doc Marten's or Frye boots. It doesn't HAVE to be these brands; a copycat will do (DSW or Steve Madden have good, more affordable copies or you can always e-bay it!).
However, the most important things are that you treat your shoes or boots, whatever they are, with a waterproofer and that you when you buy them, you try them on with some warm socks. You may have to swallow your pride and go a size up, but your toes will thank you for it. My extremities are ALWAYS the first to get cold.

You need to get waterproof boots or shoes. You have to really ask yourself Would you rather look cute or have cold wet feet? I've been in snow before, and you definitely do not want wet feet. Also, make sure that you get wool socks. I heard that wearing wool socks will keep your feet from sweating and they're warm. Good luck!

Hiking boots are best & avoid suede if the snow is flying ,,they get wet more easily.I live in NY so our winters are cold & stormy.
