Of course they added to the book. All movie makers take liberties with the original work.

Kaysen's book is awesome. Just off the top of my head I can think of a couple of differences...In the book, Lisa and Suzanna weren't with Daisy when she killed herself and Polly had screaming fits.

I think in the movie, they wrote it like the professor she was dating was married and that she ran into his wife and daughter when the group went to the ice cream parlor. I don't remeber reading that in the book.

I think Jolie did great in the role of Lisa. She deserved the Oscar she won.

It was based on a true story. Obviously hollywood-ized to make a 2-hour movie. I enjoyed it, there was a lot of truth in what the young women experienced and what the rest of the world saw each of them as.

I thought it was good and true to the story of Susanna's "Borderline Line Personality Disorder". I loved the part where they all went to town and ended up in the ice cream shop. WITH NUTTS!!!!! HAHA That was funny.
