I'm not referring to straight people who I would consider respectful and non-prejudice and I don't mean the gay-bashers who just pop in here randomly. I'm talking about the people (men and women) who are in here quite often and then claim they are straight and hate gays. If they really are straight and hate gays so much, why do they frequent a community for GLBT?
I wonder...is it a curiosity thing? Is it because they are actually extremely closeted and don't know how to deal with it, other than lashing out at us? is it because they seriously think that their negativity and gay-bashing is going to get us to change?
I know this question may sound like I'm being sarcastic, but I really am serious!

Goldwing, I totally agree that there is space here for straight people as well as people who are questioning or unsure of their sexuality. If you re-read my questions you'll see that's not at all what I'm talking about. I think it's wonderful to see respectful straight people in the GLBT community - it's called diversity!

I think it proves that old adage "Me thinks ye doth protest too much" is absolutely true. I'm a straight woman who has had many gay friends for years. I used to enjoy coming to this forum simply because alot of the questions are more interesting than in other categories. I believe there are two types of people that do this: a) the religious zealots that like to bang the Bible and tell gay people they're going to Hell and b) the self-loathing closet queens. When I hear these supposedly "straight" people obsessing about homosexuality and constantly making disparaging remarks about gay people that throws up a big red flag to me. Truly straight people don't really care about it and don't constantly talk about homosexuality. Straight people may talk about how they find having sex with someone of the same gender unappealing but they don't obsess with it like these closet queens.

I think some of them are just like any other bully... ticked off at something or someone else and get some warped satisfaction pounding on what they think are easy prey.
I believe that some of the ppl asking questions honestly seek an answer but really don't know how to pose it without sounding like a homophobe. Ya know, when you're young and all you've heard is ridicule and bashing, how do you figure out how to ask a question about something for which you have very little knowledge nor idea what words to use without unintentionally sounding like a basher.
Others, yeh, closet cases hating others for who they are. Dumb really, and have never understood it.
There are a few fools here too that seem to just get their jollies out of getting a rise out of others. And then there are the wack jobs with multiple identies that are most likely ill.

I am not gay and I don't hate gays. My brother and my best friend were both gay. One killed in a violent attack by bashers and one killed by a drunk driver who was a known basher. When my brother realized he was gay...I supported him as best I could and with every fiber of my being, he may have been taken from this world far too soon, but I will continue to support his lifestyle and others who live as he lived because I believe that the hatred must stop...so I come here every now and again to refresh that fire in my belly and to remember every little detail about the two most wonderful people I have ever known as well as to share my opinions and let the gay community know that all straight people are not the same!

Well having read so many of these hate and gay bashing questions over the last few months on here i have come to several conclusions as to who these people are and why they do this.
1..There kids that aren't too bright and really don't know enough about anything to answer or ask a question with any confidence.
2..Gay haters and homophobic people who are so scared of there own sexuality they just cant face it so they set out to distance themselves from gays by having a sad little bash on a free question site.
3..God botherers that really cant be happy with there own faith (or who don't really believe anymore) and are terrified that someone may be enjoying life better.
4..Sad or jealous people that are so desperately lonely and unfulfilled in their lives that this may be their only form of communication,a lot don't answer any questions but just post hate and then sit back and watch the reactions.
One way or the other they seem to have been left behind on life's journey and bitterly resent that so they roll their disappointment and frustration into a bitter little ball and post some vile hate on this site.I suppose we shouldn't mind too much because if they didn't have this outlet they may have to open a vein to deal with the sadness and disappointments in their lives.
Either way its so sad to watch, the poor attempts at wit and the desperate lengths they will go to,to get attention.
To respond to them just drives them into a frenzy of activity i suppose it make them feel that they matter to someone rather than just sitting alone and unwanted in front of there monitors because no one wants them or is too interested in them, its very very sad really.
So to all of the above if posting hate makes you feel alive go ahead it matters to no one really, and on here your safe to do it because no big bad gay can actually reach you.
Your like a little fluffy dog behind a screen door on the porch barking and snapping because you have a nice screen door protecting you.Hate all you like gay people are here to stay and there is nothing you or your hate postings can do to change that!
So go on vent till your eyes bleed no one cares.

I know some in this crowd would be happy if I dropped out but there are some of my number that say some absolutely stupid things and they can't be left unchallenged, even if I am on the same side of the coin as some of them. As is obvious, not merely on this subject, we have quite a few folks across the spectrum that are saying amazingly stupid and crazily crass things. I'm sorry. The freedom to speak freely sometimes means the freedom from thinking responsibly. Reason should trump passion, but often doesn't.

A desire to satisfy curiosity, wanting to be discriminatory and knowing they can find a target in the forums and poor behaviour on the whole.
Also possible curiosity themselves - it's worth considering that some of these people might in-fact be questioning their own sexual preferences and thereby being unable to accept that they might not be straight, lash out and attack those who aren't straight but are comfortable with their orientation.

I think that there is a place for Straights here, many are trying to understand what they think they do not know....they have been taught that we are different, when we are not. I am not talking about petty bashers, they do not count in any life. But there is room in our world to fill in the blanks of those who are interested, isn't there?

Studies have shown that extreme homophobic people are actually deeply closeted homosexuals. When you think about it, why would something so trivial as who someone loves bother someone so much that they would actually speak out in hate against another person instead of just respecting them for who they are.

Um, yeah, it could be curiosity or just plain hate. Or maybe it is them trying to convince themselves that they aren't queer. I'm not really sure, they could have just dropped in in accident.

I think for some it is propaganda. I also think that for others they are curious but want to seem as though they actually despise us.
