With the newest school shooting coming out on the news I started wondering. Why is it always white people that have been shot or did the shooting that make it on the news?

In inner-cities there are shootings every night and inner-city school shootings don't even make it on the news most of the time. All the shootings I can remember that have made it to the national (not local) news stations have been involving white people (that hunting guy in the woods, the Cheney hunting accident, and now the school shooting). I am not saying that all these things are not trajic, but I used to live in Philadelphia and I know the shootings that go on there every night. Those shootings never make it on the news (sometimes on the local news but never on the big networks). And, don't give me the crap about gang violence, because many of the shootings involve innocent people getting killed and it still does not make the news.

I know the answer is racism, but I'd like to know what you all think.

First off, yes, there are inner-city school shootings that don't make it on national news. Secondly, I NEVER said that inner-city shootings don't make it on the news at all, they just get reported on the much less watched local news (at like 1am when no one is awake). Thirdly, if a kid gets shot in a school, a kid gets shot in a school and it is tragic. My point is that kids get shot in cities all the time, and mothers, and husbands, and pregnant women, but those aren't shown on the national news. Only when some white kids get shot does the maintsream media care and then people donate all this money to help the families of the victims. Why do they all the sudden donate money to these white victims instead of previously donating it to charities that help inner-city people? Racism

Sadly, it's more than just plain racism now.

It's almost "acceptance."

People know that stuff happens all the time in the inner city and that innocent people get hurt and killed. It's not news anymore. All of it gets reported locally, just not nationally.

But I don't think you can compare the Vice Preisident poppin off a shot at his buddy as the same thing as a drive by. Same with some of the recent shootings. I can't say for certain, but I would think ANYONE who enters a school and shoots up a lot of kids is going to make news.

Or maybe inner city schools are better protected because the perception is some of the kids have guns??? It's a thought...

You don't know what you are talking about because I see inner city shootings on the news all the time. You are watching the wrong news I guess. Plus all the shootings you are talking about involve more people, whereas inner cities it might be one person. Plus there are too many inner city shootings to put on national news all the time. If somebody was shooting up a whole school in inner cities I'm sure it would be on the news.

If you know the answer, why ask the question? You obviously think it's black and white...but is it? If a shooting hasn't happened in an area in numerous years and all of a sudden there is one...is that news? I think so. Now if a shooting takes place in an area where it might be one of many that day....is that news? No... who's going to watch that? Not even the minorities. Or maybe you thought it was racist because they always blow a white man's crime out of proportion...that's probably it. It's like when a white ball player makes a slanted remark, that usually hounds him all his life. But when a minority makes one (happens all the time to players that are white) it's expected. So you blow the racist whistle thinking that that proves your righteousness. I don't see it that way. If anything I think there are far more prejudices against white these days than anyone and your comments prove that. And no it doesn't matter that you may be white.

I don't see anything that you are imagining. The shootings in the intercity are in the papers and on regular TV news all the time. I also see donations for intercity shootings all the time. You keep saying racist and that isn't the truth. Why do you see it in those colored glasses?

Because most of the people who shoot up schools are WHITE! There is no racism, that's just the truth. A lot black kids don't shoot up their schools.
