Because they are mosquitoes. Bug repellents usually smell bad, so I use a drier sheet. I don't know why it works, but it does. Just rub your exposed skin with the drier sheet, it smells good, and you won't get bit. :)

Mosquitoes are attracted to dark colours, so don't wear black clothes, and if that doesn't work, consider buying mosquito reppelant, a net, or a bug zapper.
