Sometimes when it comes to what you don't undestand you really learn more by having someone explain it to you. Kind of like if you had asked your mom or dad for help. You've definetely learned more by asking than by struggling with something you have no hope of understanding. Just don't be one of those people who regularly pastes their homework essay into a yahoo question.

Lets see, she said you can work in groups, and you can use any resources. The Internet would be considered a resource. You do understand the problem and have learned what the teacher wanted you to learn?? I say based on what you presented, no, you didn't cheat. I would say, hand in that problem with a clear conscience, and get a good grade.

If the teacher said you could use resources and did not specify which resources, then you're safe. Yahoo is a legitimate resource. With those instructions, you could ask a person wandering down the street and count it as a legit resource. It may even be that your teacher wanted to see if any of you were smart enough to use Yahoo. so hand it in.

I would just hand it in. And I would not explain anything unless asked.
I don't think it is cheating because yahoo answers is really just a large group and you could use "resources"
The important thing that I hear from your question is that you need to understand the problem .. and you do at this point.
I would quit while ahead and have a guilt free tomorrow.

If you are allowed to use resources then it is not cheating. Other people's knowledge is a resource just as much as an encyclopedia or dictionary would be. In my oppinion asking others is jut as viable because in life you will have to ask others for help and you did in this case and you now know how to do the question on your own which is really the result that should be strived for.

IF you really grasped the concept of what was told to you, that is NO different than reading it in a book surely................hence why she said you could use any resources that you had to hand
JUST make sure IF asked you fess up, you never know she MIGHT have seen you ask on here.
So hand it in and dont worry about it............asking here is NO different than asking a parent, BUT if it is all wrong take note of that and maybe focus in class a bit more

She wasn't specific enough about resources. The internet is a resource - albeit not necessarily always correct.... if you are sure about the answers, maybe you can re-word it (I don't know how easy that is with a physics question) or maybe you can toss out your Yahoo answer(s), re-read the question, and answer it knowing what you think you have figured out.

If you feel that you took someone else's work, don't want to change THE answer so that it's wrong, that sounds guilty. Otherwise use what you've got & have a "work cited" page ready to show your source. Why would you want someone else's answer if you know that your's would be wrong, if you didn't do it yourself. Can't you do your own work? Another, words if you feel that you took someone else's work, IF THE SHOE FITS, THEN WEAR IT! Aside from answering your own question [you sound guilty as heck], I hope that I've given you a straight answer!

If you understand how to do the problem on your own. It's not cheating and don't feel guilty. It was a good resource that you used. It helped you understand the problem. I say, good job.
