iv been friends with this sence 1997 and iv asked him to go to my birthday party on the 13th and the reason i told him isnt at all the real reason i wanted him to go with me the real reason why is tha ti really wanna go out with him and im scared to ask him out so i told him that there is a guy there that likes me and he whont leave me alone unless i have a guy with me how should i tell him that i wanna go out with him

Has this guy ever showed you that he wanted to be more then just friends? If not, leave things were they are, you could actually lose him as a friend if you told him how you feel and he doesn't feel the same. Because he might start feeling uncomfortable being around you. Always let things just happen never push, you could actually push yourself into a corner you don't want to be in.
