You've Got One of Those Four-Hour Erections ...
Now what?
By Daniel Engber

One pill makes you bigger and one pill makes you small ...
At least 38 men who have taken Viagra have gone blind, and the drug's manufacturer said last Thursday that it would consider adding a warning to the label.
Call your doctor—and be very, very afraid. Though the makers of erectile dysfunction drugs list prolonged, unwanted erections as a potential side effect, urologists have their doubts. Priapism, a rare condition defined by prolonged erections in the absence of sexual arousal, is associated with certain blood diseases, hypertension, and recreational drug use. No matter what its cause, priapism can be dangerous if left untreated. A man who has a painful erection for more than 12 hours is at high risk for permanent damage.

you're an idiot. An erection lasting longer than 4 hours isn't because the guy is horny, its a disorder that the guy can't help controlling even when there are no women present. Its just like an involuntary muscle spasm on other parts of the body, in their case its the penis recieving too much blood, thats why it doesn't feel all that great. It only feels great when men are sexually aroused.

Unfortunatly, if it lasts longer then 4 hours, then it lasts ALOT longer than 4 hours, and into the next day. You see, a man can have no blood flow to other parts of the body if this goes on, and it can be very dangerous... for God's sakes, wouldn't four hours be enough... I mean, woman can only do things for so long before their skin shears off... lol.

Well, I think I've heard that there are other, more damaging side effects than just pain or "extended pleasure" hehe. I'm thinking that there is some kind of "rebound effect"- where after the extended erection there is a corresponding increase in the severity of limpness or flaccidity that makes it even harder (even more so than normal) to "get it up"... it can become a vicious cycle. I saw it in the fine print of Viagra I think.

The point is that mens sexuality is something most men tend to be very insecure about. Am I doing this right, should this be happening this way, why is this happening to me... it is not something we are comfortable talking to our doctors about.
Immagine if all of a sudden you could no longer perform like you once could. Would you be proud to admit that?
Pride is something men are not willing to give up lightly. It is us, it is how we behave, how we see ourselves, and something that without it, we're lost.
Talking to a doctor and telling him your problem is almost like admitting you are not a man anymore, at least that is how it seems to me it would feel.

your theory is great but please take into consideration that the human body only has enough blood in it to run either the brain or the penis, but it can do both for a very short time that's why if an erection lasts for 4 hours your man will be brain dead.
no blood in the brain.

LOL!! Git on yer woman, indeed! Seriously, though.. the erection is caused by blood engorging the penis... so the blood's not circulating anywhere else.. it can be painful, and also result in long term loss of potency.

Obviosly you have never had what the term blue balls. This could be very bad. Or say you are getting on your girl and it still does not go down. Big or little problem as might be the case.

lol well cause something is wrong if it lasts more than 4 hours but the real question here should be how many people actually go to the doctor if it last more than 4 hours rather than just brag to their friends :)
