I don't know I think that Desuan Foster from the CAROLINA PANTHERS is the best. But then again I'm a CAROLINA PANTHER fan.

Top 3 of all time in this order: Jim Brown, Walter Payton, then Barry Sanders. Hands Down
Top 3 active players: LaDainian Tomlinson, Edgerrin James (dispite this year), then either Warrick Dunn, Corey Dillon, or Clinton Portis.

Easy, I know you like Carolina, but lets get serious.

My answer for best RB of all time is Walter Payton. He also blocked, threw passes, caught passes. Jim Brown, of course was a legend, but the defenders were much bigger and faster when Walter played. I think the NFL matured in the early to mid 70's when Payton started.
Remember many of the Bears teams Payton played on had zero offense besides him. The defense keyed on Payton and he still produced!
Walter missed one game in his whole career. And that was his rookie year, he could have played. The Bear trainers didn't know what they had on their hands!

if your going for ALL-TIME then i would say barry sanders hands down. everyone loved watchin barry, he never showed off or taunted anyone, if he made a mistake he fixed it and made himself better than the competition and that is what i think the nfl is lacking right now. As a league we need more players like barry sanders. Barry just ran, and when he ran he could out cut anybody in the nfl and still have the speed and agility to beat them to the endzone. If your thinkin of the fridge for the bears, he was more of a fullback that got the ball all the time. Sure he could power over people but he ran out of steam halfway down. Barry Sanders on thanksgiving.... what more could you ask for

deshuan foster hasnt even proven to be the best back on his team... your question realy depends on what type of back your looking for. I like jim brown as the best ever because he was just strait up smash you in the face football. On the other hand you had the dancer barry sanders who was so insanley illusive it was sickining. But when you put the two of them together you got Walter Payton. And sweetness is by far the best ever. Period.

That's funny. Foster cant even hold the jock of the real all-time great running backs. Get a clue before you ask a question like this. Really, get a clue. Go to the library and check out some football books and read them and then think real hard before you open up a question with a comment that makes you look like a complete moron. Geez.

I would have to go with Barry Sanders, that guy made more with less than any other back out there. The Lions never really had a passing game to help him out like Emmitt Smith or Walter Peyton, although Peyton is a very close second.

In my heart, I have to go with Sweetness. However, Jim Brown was an absolute MONSTER. Barry Sanders was great, but has to come at least after those two.

FOR K SOZ. If we're talking about careers ended early, it has to start with Gale Sayers.

Sweetness Walter Payton
