You do NOT need to lie down. The cervix will automatically "scoop" up the sperm and deposit it into the uterus. This happens no matter whethere you are lying down or standing up. It doesnt matter if some runs out, as what runs out wouldnt be "scooped up" anyways.

I always lay there for as long as possible, just in case. They say that what runs out is just the semen and not the sperm, but I still lay there. I like to just go on to sleep for the night without getting up at all. I guess if it really were true then people could just get up and run around as birth control though, huh? I guess when ttc we will just try anything.

Good Luck!

If you have had trouble concieving then you are recommended to lay down for a while afterwards, but there is no proof that this actually helps.

When I was trying to get pregnant we would place a pillow or blanket under me to raise my butt up. I would stay like that for about 30 minutes. It also helps when you are trying to get pregnant if you dont have sex everyday. Because it takes 24 to 48 hrs for the sperm count to be higher. So try not to have sex everyday. Also dont get tense up about getting pregnant. Cause it takes the average person about 6 months to get pregnant. Good luck!

I've heard it all, too. Those little swimmers will make it thier destination weather you get up or not, but it probably wouldn't hurt to stay down for a few minutes anyway. GOOD LUCK!!

You are suppossed to lie down with your hips raised slightly for 1/2 hour after intercourse for the best chance of getting pregnant.

absolutely not ! some people have sex standing up..you uterus does do the work for you but...your best luck is going to a drug store or somewhere and buying a ovulation test..they are right with the pregnancy test..it is taken the same way and it will tell you when you are ovulating so basically you know exactly when your best chances are to get pregnant...
