I hated the idea of starting my married life out with my husband and debt from a huge wedding. We just had a small ceremony with 3 witnesses. It was better. We had fun, and had a wonderful wedding.

I think a simple ceremony is nice, intimate.
The words spoken are really listened to and focused on instead of the frills and fancyful.
It's all very lovely big weddings, but it's fairy tale like for prince and princesses and well, most of us just arent liking the limelight. Just look at princess Di...she looked absolutely scared and shy. She was in love with the man in her heart...not the prince that he was.
Some people want to be in attendance of the great nuptuals and that's when the fiesta gets huge, less intimate and turns into a party atmosphere. It's a big beginning to some marriages that only end in divorce, sadly.

Well most couples like that and some out of tradition. but if you want plan jane and quiet not too much hoopla you can do that too. just make sure you both agree when you do find that woman.

I know of women who just go on there honey moon and get married on the beach just the two of you nothing else.

So of course it can be done that is up to the couple themselves

We didn't even tell people we got married and we have 3 kids. We let them think that we are commonlaw. The push for us to get married was so much that we thought "why would we have a party for other people?"

We took the money that it would have cost and put a down payment on a house. Went to Vegas for a weekend. We didn't even tell my parents.

Definitely !! What a waste of money !!

You don't have to have a wedding... Have a small reception and put all the money you would of spent on a wedding towards the purchase of your home or in your retirement account !!

Nothing wrong with that. I did that. It's a pain in the *** to do all that planning. I have seen friends sooo stressed out with everything. We wanted something simple and we didit that way.
