Another option - disable the Internet connection.

Start Button, Control Panel, Network Connections, Local Area Connections, Disable.

Repeat the process to make the connection work again.

are you trying to block it on a single computer? If so right click internet explorer and choose properties and I believe you can change from there. However, if you have more than one computer on the same network then this may affect the settings for all of them. I am not sure.

Download a free software called ZONEALARM. its awsome for keeping track of in and out going internet traffic. you will start of by having everything blocked from goin 'out' on the net and and thing from comin 'in' from the net onto your computer. If somehitng want to connect to the interent, you'll get a small box that pops up in the right hand side of your screen. Here you can say, Accept, deny and a small check box if you want Zone Alarm to remerber your choice and then the next time the same program tries to get online it will do the same choice as you took.

In your situation, I would create two accounts on the computer - one for myself, and one for the teen (and you can create them for others in the household as well, of course). Be sure each account has a password; also be sure that your teen's account does NOT have administrator privileges. On your grounded teen's "side" remove Internet Explorer and any other browsers (such as Netscape or Opera). Without a browser, he/she will have no internet access, but can still use functions such as the word processor.
