People do get them, but it is an unusual occurrence. In most cases, the worm dies shortly after arriving in the human lung. Hence, even if a person do get bitten, it won't be life threatening but in rare cases some showed symptoms of breathing difficulties.

you generally can not tell a dogs has heartworms until it has gotten out of hand and probably too late, that could take months and years based on the size of the dogs. a consumer-friendly symptom is strangely worked respiration from basically a tiny little bit of exertion (assuming no different well-being problems). this is because of the fact heartworms led to injury to the lungs and the heart. superb is to take your dogs to the vet for a speedy blood draw for a heartworm try.
