Maybe you are thinking too much about winning and losing. I faced the same dilemma that you faced when I was a high ranked high school varsity tennis member who fell in the rankings because I consistently lost to new recruits. I decided not to worry about winning or losing and whether or not I sucked and just played my game. After adopting and practicing this strategy for a whole summer, I was able to regain my ranking the next year simply because I felt more confident.

Expensive lessons are not necessary. Check the local parks for a summer league w/ a trainer. This is a cheap way to get some advice, play with different people @ your same level, and see if you truly enjoy the game. If you still like it, then you can join a club & pay the big bucks for lessons & such.

Are you taking lessons? You can also go find someone who is a little bit better at you in tennis, and practice with them a lot to help improve your game.

Hello? You out there? Put down the tennis racket and pick up a golf club. Go ahead, give it a try. A slower paced game, but that which requires alot of concentration.

Take lessons from a pro... or find weaker opponents. If using the USTA rating system try going down a level.

maybe Tennis just isn't your thing. Try getting paid lessons and a nice racket, that might help.
