Comcast Broadband Cable is best. You don't need a phone. I have Wireless Internet, Great Cable TV and use my cell phone only, eliminating the need for a home telephone.

Here's the "it depends" answer. Are you comparing dial-up across all three brands, high-speed DSL across all three or are you mixing it up a bit? In any of these situations, you would be MUCH happier going with high-speed service.

DIAL-UP
EarthLink, PeoplePC and Bell South promote themselves similar to how Lexus, Honda and Ford project their brands. EarthLink (Lexus) promotes service and many add-ons that the competition does not have. PeoplePC (Honda) works well, has no-frills with OK service. Bell South (Ford) has no service and a poor image but seems to do fine.

HIGH SPEED
I do not believe that PeoplePC offers high speed DSL. EarthLink DSL ranges from 1.5Mbps to 6+Mbps depending on where your house is located. Bell South ranges from 1.5Mbps to 3.0Mbps - also depending on your location. All of these are 'high-speed services' where downloads get faster with more Mbps.

I have been very satisfied with my EarthLink DSL service over the years. They also seem to offer more options and add-ons than Bell South; so I would recommend going with EarthLink.

Cable is an OK option, but I found that it was more expensive than my EarthLink. A technical issue about cable is that it can slow down tremendously during regular TV viewing hours. Cable is incredibly fast during non-peak hours, though.

I had Peoplepc for just over 1 year. Please do yourself a favor and steer clear of these idiots. It was one of the worse isp service I ever had. They charge you for any needed technical support at $1.98 a minute. You can only stay connected to the internet for 4 straight hours at a time, after that it dis-connects you, which sucks especially if you are in the middle of a file download.

I am not familiar with Bell South, but earth link was also a limited service provider. They use Macafee for their anti virus and know several friends who had used their service and had gotten viruses. If you go with them its best to use your own anti virus program for protection.

Dial up does not compare to dsl, or cable, so maybe check into that. It will be like driving a VW and then getting into a mercedes(cable/dsl) far superior. All depends on your budget as to which to choose.

Good luck!
