Never count them out, they have at least one more run in each of them. When you count them out, thats when they are at their best. They like to be underestimated and I can see both or either making a comeback next year, with Venus the most likely of the two. Serena has seemed to lose interest.

You can never count true champions out of any sport let alone tennis and where the Williams sisters are concerned definitely don't write them off just yet. I mean you have to look at the ups and downs of a real sporting champions career and realise that it comes with the territory. I think where Serena is concerned well she's been struggling with her fitness but if she gets that back up to scratch she will again be a force to be reckoned with and with Venus, I think she just has alot of other interest outside of tennis but by no means does that mean she through with at all. Don't forget it the champions that have this certain ability to come back and get back on top again, hope that helps you.

I believe the only people who can answer this question are THE WILLIAMS SISTERS. They still have the talent & "A" game to compete, if not dominate, at the top level of women's tennis. The main problem is that I believe their interests have diverted from a single focus on tennis. They have made their marks, been ranked #1, made tons of money on court & through endorsements, and assured their names will go down in history. But now, instead of two girls from Houston who's ONLY focus is winning tennis matches, they have grown into worldly entrepenures creating businesses in fashion & more. To stay on top, tennis must be your LIFE, and that is not the case for them any more. If they want to commit the time & effort it takes to stay ahead of the pack, I believe both of them could do it. But if their other interests keep diverting their time, it may be someone else's turn to shine.

Yes they are probably finished. Not just them but also the American domination days are almost over. I still believe American tennis can still recover but not the Williams sisters...
Just look at the rankings. They are nowhere to be found and in my opinion they have entirely lost interest in the game.

Yea they're finished.
The big advantage they had when they came on the scene was their manly athletic bodies and power. (One of the reasons tiny Hinges quit the game a few years ago and only now came back???)
Now all the girls are physically stronger and their techniques improved so they all can hit hard and move around the court very well.
The Williamses don't have that advantage anymore.
Add that to their shift in priorities from the tennis court to all the other stuff off the court and I'll be REALLY surprized if we see another amazing result from either of them...

I think so. I don't expect to see them on top of the tennis world not because they're not talented enough, but because they are too involved in other things. They aren't focused completely on tennis like they used to be. To be the best you need heart. Motivation. They don't seem to have either right now. When you have that much talent, heart and motivation are all you need to get to the top.

No way! The Williams sisters will rise again...
They just need to deal with their unenforced errors and injuries. :)

unfortunately yes. i could see serena coming back some, she did play fairly well at the us open. however, if they keep going as they are then yes. it's sad because we need some american women players.

No. Serena has been working hard to get where she is today and wouldn't let it go like it was nothing.
