this is a really generic and vague multiple choice question. tell whoever wrote this question that they are not helping you to understand the peoples of Africa in the right way. it really depends upon which TRIBAL GROUP in Africa you are studying... they all have more specific names and and duties depending upon their ancient traditions.

In early Africa, something simply being believed because everyone says so was not a common thing. For this reason Africans chose specific people to memorize important stories and events, and later tell of the details when called upon. These individuals had to have a good reputation for being loyal, reliable, and honest. These individuals were known as griots. The answer to your question is B: Oral Historian. It is also said that they used power of spirits and such to recall certain events, but personally I think these guys just had a good memory, and were just those kind of people that everyone liked to believe in.

B., but that answer is so inadequate. First, there still are griots, second, a griot relies on the spirits of the ancestors to "keep" the oral history true and accurate, njunju can also play a part in the history of a tribe, and traditionally everyone had to have a piece of land to cultivate, even a griot.
