Cut apart a pillow. Use the insides.

I held the egg in one of those water noodles--those pool toys you can find everywhere, made from some type of foam. They have a hollow core, so carve out and area for the egg and have duct tape to put it back together.

If your project needs to land right-side up, use something metal. I used change glued to the bottom.

Have you ever tried to break an egg while you are squeezing it all around its surface. It will not break! This is because the force exerted by the fluid inside is directed throughout the egg. Similarly, I think if you place (suspend) the egg in a sealed bag full of water, upon impact the water will redirect the pressure all around the egg instead of just the bottom. Maybe some foam on the bottom too. I think ill try this one myself...

Stand the egg up on it's end put thick foam all around it and tape it with duck tape.It should do the trick.Try it out first.

go with a series of small to smaller boxes with the dense shock absorber on the outside and progressive less dense to the middle of box, then suspend egg in smallest box in a liquid absorber?

wrap the egg in duct tape and then use foam to surround your egg on all sides in the box. tape the box shut.
