the hardest part is not punching out the wanker supervisor ...usually i punch out of the company time clock and don't stop until i reach the next employment situation with all the same unglamorous grueling drudgery and unrealistic deadlines laid down by incompetents up the feeding chain....old saying about mgt comes to mind... it's usually something other than the cream floating to the top...i know i'll be back slaving over this response after my 20 minute break...perfection, perfection -- two words that have nothing to do with jobs....maybe I'll burn a little company time and research this topic on internet office humor sites...heh heh heh
okay, back from my 20 minute smoke break, just in time to pull this off an office humor website...may lend insight into how these situations develop wherein mgt hands out overtasking like they're getting paid by the # of burn-outs they generate (with bonuses for nervous breakdowns)...
Staffing the workplace -- the brick method
Put about 100 bricks in no particular order in a closed room with an open window. Then send 2 or 3 candidates in the room and close the door. Leave them alone and then come back after 6 hours to analyze the situation.
If they are counting the bricks, put them in the accounts department.
If they are recounting them, put them in auditing.
If they have messed up the whole place with the bricks, put them in engineering.
If they are arranging the bricks in some strange order, put them in planning.
If they are throwing the bricks at each other, put them in construction.
If they are sleeping, put them in reception
If they have broken the bricks into pieces, put them in IT.
If they are sitting idle, put them in human resources.
If they say they have tried different combinations, yet no bricks have been moved,
put them in sales.
If they have already left for the day, put them in marketing.
If they are staring out of the window, put them in strategic planning.
And then last but not least --
If they are talking to each other and not a single brick has been moved,
Congratulate them and put them in management !!!

Absolutely, whether it be at school or at work, especially at school, but that was awhile ago...
I guess not being determined & being "beaten down" spiritually, I gave in & decided to opt out.
A coward act? Maybe. But I do know that if I went through with it, I would've drowned myself in deep depression and never reach the surface again.
That's probably something I'd to live with -- not giving it my all, but at least I know that I could "breathe" rather than be trapped in doing something that wasn't going to make me happy anyways.
