I don't think the two parts of your question are related to one another in the way that you've got them listed.
It would seem that your second premise--that there was a nuclear war or other manmade cataclysm that depopulated the earth of humans makes sense given the inexplicable shreds of evidence of technology from prior times.
As for the bible and other religious works, I think they are concoctions of the cavemen, primitive tales to explain everything here since the science of the prior technological civilizations was lost.
Just think--there may have been a civilization on Earth who had some knowledge of how life began here!

The books from the Bible were chosen by people. For some religions they include some books, for others they exclude some.
I guess to get the whole picture you have to read them as very old books, some good some bad.
Maybe Earth was inhabited 10s of 000s of years ago by advanced people. To say it wasnt is to say because i dont know it wasnt, lol. Unknown things are not impossible.
There are so many miserable people on here though who discount everything it makes me laugh.
Interesting question, i like the ancient history aspect ; )

Of course most religions are fragmented, because they're so incredibly old. Most of the major religions that are around today started in the times before anyone really wrote anything down. And just like the way rumors and "legends" work, they got broken and distorted through years and waves of being retold only by mouth. Even when they finally did start writing them down (like the bible), they more than likely got distorted even more because they were written by someone who probably had his own take on the subject. On the bright side, that is one of the things that makes religion kinda special--no one can really say what's true or not--hence why they are "beliefs". :)

I believe there has been a serious breakdown in translations over the years. It is a known fact that books were left out of the bible, so who's to say it didn't start off completely different than the version most of us know.

The Bible is 66 books that have a beginning middle and end, some people fragment them to make it say what they want
I am afraid that people will believe most anything as long as it is not in the Bible. You might even get funding for your theory.
GOD bless ya.

It is a very whacked book and has been screwed over by whack jobs wanting to claim to be the possessors of the truth. There is no mystery to it: There are many versions of the bible around, and they are all in no common sense form at all and hard to read with any intelligence.

Interesting........very interesting. Actually could be supported by the extent of mathematical genius found in ancient civilizations, which all inexplicably died out - why?
I like your theory. Also, have you noticed that all the myths and legends including the bible have relevant connections to each other? I believe that someone who took the time to compile all of them together without bias could actually come up with the whole story.
