i want to return a computer to office depot i've had for a couple of weeks, but during the time i've had it, there has been personal info and downloads. i'd like to erase the disk completely clean with drive scrubber. if i do that, can i restore the computer and the software in its original state that i bought it in with the recovery disk that came with it? or would i need to use the recovery disk to erase the disk itself, then do its recovery? i think if it did it, all my personal info wouldn't be erased all the way and still some info recoverable. thanks for any helps

YES, the recovery disk WILL restore back to new condition. DriveScrubber WILL completely erase all of your data from the drive .. see: http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Utilities/File_Cleanup_Utilities/DriveScrubber.html

..so you will be FINE to do this ,,,scrub the durive and then re-install the software with the recovery disk ..don't worry about somebody being able to recover your info ... it would be a MAJOR excercise to even attempt this after you have run DriveScrubber ... see the site above... "Once a drive has been wiped with DriveScrubber, no attempts (regardless of their level of sophistication) will be able to recover any data that previously existed thereon. "

probable no longer as you've overwritten the listing structure and far of the files together with your new installation. All i will recommend is sending the stress away to an information restoration employer to work out in the adventure that they could get some thing again. there is application you could installation your self to attempt this in spite of the indisputable fact that it really is going to of direction overwrite better of the things you opt for again EDIT to those conserving an effortless reformat destroys each and each of the files ............. a house format does no longer. only an complete safe practices format, the position each byte of the disc is overwritten quite a few cases, maximum do a minimum of 7, will thoroughly wipea disc.

If they want your data, software exists that will recover your data.

That is why agency's physically break the hard drive.

In the future, all ways make sure that you have two drives in your system, one for the operating system, the other for your data.
Always do a SAVE AS, so that you will have the opportunity to select where you want your data stored.
