HOT..........

The hotter the water, the more the fabric can fade, but it doesn't have anything to do with shrinking the fabric. The dryer temperature does, though, as well as the type of fabric. Some clothes shrink to barbie doll size and other clothes won't shrink at all. Cotton is notorious for shrinking. So, if you have a fabric that is NOT shrinkproof, put it in the dryer on a high setting just long enough to get it completely dry. That should do the trick.

That depends on couple of things. Check labels for instruction and if it says wash in cold then wash in hot to shrink.
1. The water definitely has to be hot.
2. Not all fabrics will shrink . 100% cotton will if it hasn't already been pre shrunk. The same goes for denim. Wool will shrink I believe in any water temp . The amount it will shrink depends on how hot the water is but it will shrink. Synthetics usually don't shrink. Some will just get weird like misshaped.
Hope this helps.

If you're trying to shrink them, the hottest water that is recommended for them is best. Same goes for dryer setting.

You've got to WASH them in the hot water to shrink them, then dry them. Don't put water in the dryer!

your clothes have to have warm water because the hotter the washing machine is the faster it will shrink.
