If it were any other country (middle eastern, african...etc) they would be banned from any world trade, and boycotted in all other departments...I think it's wrong what they're getting away with, and feel, yes, every nation should stick its fingers up and have a makeshift games somewhere else.

why should always the athletes suffer for the inactivity of this world? They do training their whole lives just for the Olympic events every 4 years, but they being put on political display when ever some sort of statement is needed. Why all factories doing their cheap production lines in China? Why don't they go on strike? No, it would ruin their bank account. That's why those people going to china for manufacturing in the first place, coz the abused human rights make cheap labour possible in the first place. Are you wearing Nike, Adidas, Puma etc??? Most of them have their stuff done in China. So why not boycotting them and not buying their cloths, shoes, underwear, gear....

Why should the athletes have to pay the penalty? Some may not get a second chance after 8 years. The Olympic Committee granted Beijing the right to host the games. Let the participants get the dream they deserve. They work hard to get to where they are.

The best way to demonstrate the world's commitment to human rights is for nations to participate in the Olympics. The Olympics should be a showcase of nations' pride and not be wrongly used politically for such purposes as there is nothing to gain. The losers would be the athletes who spend time to train and also the amount of funding allocated to prepare them for the games. It is a shame to waste such preparations. The way forward is for nations to engage China in meaningful diologues to show the world's displeasure over their human rights record. It takes time, but the Olympics is one sure way to show to China that nations pride themselves by participation rather than by abusing their system.

I'm pretty neutral to this issue.
China has shown much disrespect to human rights, but Olympics are supposed to end polemics around the world for a time.
It might be an occasion to provoke scandals and put these actions from the government into the spotlight.

China doesn't care what you think. Soon they won't care what the world thinks. (They have 1.2 BILLION people, they practically are the world) Then all the communist supporters will cheer as they are trampled under their fascist boot.

NO. Who cares about their human rights record. Let their own people deal with that if they are not happy. I am sick of fighting everybodys battles. They will never thank us for it. So F.UCK EMM
