There is a very fragile natural balance of bacteria and other organisms in the vagina that can be very easily upset. Yeast is natural, too, and is eaten by the 'good' bacteria that resides with it. However, a "yeast infection" is when that balance has been upset and the bacteria that eat it can't get rid of it fast enough.
This can happen for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is taking anti-biotic drugs. (I get yeast infections almost every time I take an anti-biotic.) You may have had something completely different from a 'simple' yeast infection going on in the first place.
What you describe, sounds to me like you tipped the scales too far to the other side when you took the Diflucan. It is an extremely potent drug.
SO, if I were you, I would (at least) call my OB/GYN and explain EVERYTHING to them and see what they have to say.

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

Yes, you could have chronic yeast infection. For women yeast infections can be indicitive of other health problems such as diabetes. You could also get reinfected by your partner. If you have unprotected sex he may need to use some cream too. You could also have a bacterial infection that won't be cured with yeast medicine you would need to get antibiotics to clear it up completely. If you are on birth control pills you may need to change brands that worked for me after suffering for a year. Anyway the best thing to do is see a GYN and discuss the problem with her / him.

Yes, You can get chronic yeast infections. Esp if you dont find out what is causeing your yeast infection. Some causes are sex, condoms, birthcontrol, tight clothing, poor hygine among others. Try to eliminate possabiliies on why you are getting them
I would go to a doctor maybe it is not a yeast infection, this time it could be bacterial.

It is possible if the cause is still there? If you are on antibiotics you can get a yeast infection. You can also be reinfected by a sexual partner. Buttermilk, yogurt, and acidophiles all help prevent yeast infections. You can drink the first, eat the second, or swallow the third. You can also dilute either of the first two and use it as a douche.

YES. I used to get yeast infections ALL the time. It could be you are consuming too much sugar. Try to cut down. I'd go back to the doc and make sure it's not something more serious.

Yes it is possible, Did you have sex with someone because you can give it to your partner and they can give it back to you. Alot of people do not know this. Go back to the doctors and get checked out also make sure you do not have sex until you are well, wash all underpants well and washcloths. Do not use deodorant soaps and wear cotton panties 100%.

Yeah it's definately possible. Go to the doctors and get them to do a swab test. It's it's being persistant you may need to be put on prescription anti-biotics that are stronger than Diflucan.
