It overheats unless I have the Heater going at full speed. The heater still blows out hot but I changed the thermastat anyway. I also changed the coolant. It also wants to stall half the time when idling. This is our first major problem with this car since we bought it 3 years ago. Any DIY ideas- dont really have much money to take it to the shop.

either your coolant fan (it's electric) is not working or the temp sender switch is bad. there are 2 of these on the car. while idling watch your temp guage if it has one...if not just hook up a test light to the power wire of your electric fan...do this in either case. If it reaches about 220 degrees and the light does not come on the test light then it's the sending switch...if it does then it's the fan.

Also check for a faulty ground...this can be accomplished by hooking your test light to the positive terminal of your battery and connecting to the ground side of your fan and see if it lights up.

Hope this helps

It' a Mercury Mistake. Go after the cooling fan, see if it comes on when hot. If not, I believe there is a relay module that controls the fan and if it's not working you are in big trouble.

attempt operating a thinner oil. lots of the time the noise is using carbon equipped up. you could also run an engine cleanser by it. if it nonetheless runs good there probable isn't some thing extremely incorrect with it.
