the trick to this is to find a good question to answer --like when someone drinks right out of a soda bottle in the fridge will it leave germs for the next drinker. Or can guppies be taught (they can, but this one is not allowed because they are vertebrates.) How about "what is the best cure for seasickness besides seasickness pills? Ginger works the best and things like those arm bands don't work at all Do you ever watch that tv program where the two guys test out myths (mythbusters)? Their type of question is what you want. Let me think a minute --- can a person really be lifted in a lawn chair with balloons attached as they showed in the movie? Could a child really fly away if a balloon seller hands her all his balloons. Do plants grow better if you play music to them? If you threaten plants and yell at them will they die? Do plants grow better if they only drink pepsi? Do children do better on tests before lunch or after? Do children do better on tests if they eat fruit before a test (or candy). Or do children run faster if.(etc.) Do children do better on a test if the teacher tells them are too stupid to do well? These should be enough to give you some ideas. Once you get the question, the trick is to be sure you test it correctly. Like for the plants, you need 2 sets with every single thing the same - same amount of water and light, etc. except that one set gets yelled at and the other doesn't. It's good to make graphs and pictures to show your proof - like how much the plants grow each day. After all that it is fairly easy to write up your conclusions. Hope this will be helpful. Bye Bye from an ex 5th grade teacher.
