I never tried to get a gun licence in USA. But after questions like "Should Teachers carry guns?" I wonder how hard it is for someone to get a gun? How does it compare to a car licence for example?
I hear some US states have 15 year olds driving. The death toll on roads shows cars are dangerous. At least their purpose is mainly for transport. They had a lot of hours practice and studying road rules to get their licence. (is that right?)

How do gun licences compare to that? Guns are designed to injure or worse. How old and what training / testing is needed to get a gun? What responsibility has to be done to keep a gun?

What persentage of US citizens have guns in your opinion?

I am from Oklahoma USA, I am a gun owner and lifetime member of the NRA.

In Oklahoma, in order to get a concealed carry permit you cannot have been convicted of a felony, charged with more than two DUI's (driving under the influence) and not be under any VPO's (victim protection order). You must undergo 8 hours of training; class and range and the instructor must judge that you are safe in using a firearm.

Getting your Drivers License means you are over 16 years of age and you are not blind. They cannot demand that you speak English and can read.

I would say that getting a Drivers License is much easier.

In the USA over 60% of households own them. In the South and Southwest the percentages are higher.

Gun ownership is a natural right, it is not something that governments hand to you. If you are a free man, you have he right to own a firearm if you do not you are a slave, simple enough for you?

OK. To get a gun is not that difficult, there is a waiting period and a test & classes to take. Much like driving a car. We don't hand people guns just like we don't pop a kid in a driver seat of a car. They are both lethal weapons in the wrong hands. Both serve a porpose and used with skill and knowledge can prove useful or eve bennifical. The killings you are speaking about is a tragedy, children should not have guns nor should any child be afraid to go to school. It is terrible what is happening. But my God it's not just how the we live it's our world. Go any where in this world and there is tragedy and murdering and suffering. It's all horrible how do we stop it should be your question.

A gun license. And anyone who tells you they got a gun license in Los Angeles with out being a cop is a liar. Any half-wit can get a drivers license. But getting a license to carry a gun is another matter. You have to show PROOF why you need to carry a gun. And outside of employment, few people can qualify for them.

It's definitely harder to get a car license. I got my gun license within a week. And I live in Los Angeles.
