It is good that you have studied other cultures. How many other cultures have you researched also? it is OK to be fascinated with the White American culture but the 'White' culture expands over the whole world in many different ways. You have Irish, English, African (yes in Africa), etc. White people are everywhere and so are many other types of people. So don't limit yourself. Take that from another Black American person. Our culture is mixed with so many different cultures that you would be amazed what maked you who you are today. Do your family tree research you might be surprised. A person that limits themselves to the knowledge of one culture can easily slip into bigotry so be careful. That goes for us Black people too.

There is nothing wrong with loving white cultures however, when you could say that you love them more then yourself you diffently have a problem.

Being black is also a beautiful culture and you need to recognize that because white racists people is not going to except you no matter what you do or say.. Love yourself before loving others. You do have a problem and you need to get some help before it's too late.

Culture is a big word. We use it to refer to clothing, music, literature and so on, but the scientific definition of culture is any behavior that is not passed on through genetic instinct.

That changes the field a bit. From that perspective all African-Americans use "White" culture almost exclusively. You speak English and not Bantu, you wear factory made clothing invented by the British, you drive cars from Ford or General Motors, and you do your DJ dance mixes on the vinyl that was one of MC Edison's favorite inventions. Most of you get your religion from Middle Easterners of some kind.

So based on all that, liking "White" literature or music shouldn't be too much of a stretch.

The silly thing is that Black and White only have meaning to the extent that we give meaning to them by drawing lines of cultural demarcation.

I think we are all fascinated by different cultures. It is certainly not wrong. I am white and live in a rural are with very few blacks. , My daughter went to Memphis to live with a black church family for a month when she was 14. I was very please with what she learned and experienced. Some of it was a little scary to me, but mostly because she was in the city.

I'm a white guy...and I am not sure what white culture is either, I mean as compared to others...I think it is just details really. No..nothing wrong with what you feel. It is kind of wierd...considering that white culture is kind of considered "un-hip". I admit...I dont know whats going on most of the time...and a friend of mine, a black girl, told me that white people seem clueless most of the time.

HELL YEAH!!! What do you mean by white culture, mainstream culture? You seriously have a problem and its very sad. You should read up on African American culture and find out who you are. And, by the way, read the majority of the posts on yahoo answers and see how they feel about you and your culture. This is 2006 and being whitewashed is stupid, ignorant, and unacceptable. And stop feeding their egos by saying stupid **** like that.
