Alton Brown. Although a bit geeky at times and perhaps even "corny".....I've learned a lot from watching his show and reading his book "I'm Just Here For The Food". I met him about 2 years ago at a food convention and offered to run away with him to the Hawaiian Islands. Uhm, I have a feeling his wife didn't appreciate that but I was only joking anyway.... of course. *cough*

Julia Child, the old lush, even if she is dead.

Best show she did towards the end of her run, she had a guest chef making a dessert. He had fancy, made-up names for everything, but in essance had a small piece of sponge cake with a piece of fruit on top, then drizzled a string of chocolate all around the plate so it looke like he'd used a dirty plate. Julia looked at it, looked at him, looked at the dessert again and said "That's it?"

properly i like Jacque Pepin particularly the reruns of him cooking with Julia newborn. yet, Alton Brown is my sought after chef. He makes effortless good nutrition. he's not a teach-off. i like the way he regularly explains the a number of chemistry occurring in the kitchen.
