I'm been having this for over a month now. Everytime I get dizzy I would drink orange juice, then it becomes better. I wonder is there a way to cure it? Because sometimes when I'm driving, I'm afraid the symptoms strike and I don't know what to do. I might collape and no one is there. Please help me.

Generally uncontrolled diabetes tends to cause high blood sugar, not low blood sugar. However, taking insulin shots or oral medications can cause an imbalance in insulin versus carbohydrate intake. We normally have two hormones that regulate blood sugar. One called insulin acts to lower blood sugar and the other, called glucagon, acts to raise blood sugar. I don't want to scare you, but from what you describe, one cause may be a tumor in the your pancreas that secretes insulin. That causes an imbalance in the two hormones that regulate blood sugar and causes hypoglycemia when you're fasting. I'd advise talking to your doctor and explaining all your symptoms to him or her. Ask you doctor about insulin secreting tumors and ask about a CT scan to check your pancreas. If you have a tumor, it is likely to be cured by surgery because an overwhelming majority of these tumors are NOT cancer. Good luck!

It all depends on the cause of your hypoglycemia. If you're overweight, even if you're not obese, then odds are you'd "cure" the hypoglycemia if you lost some weight. Many times it is a prerequisite to diabetes. I've been hypoglycemic for many years but finally cured it through weightloss using a nutritional supplement that provides balanced nutrition. Between getting the proper nutrition AND losing weight I finally eliminated the blood sugar issue. You'd do well to speak with a nutritionist about what to eat. Even if you don't want to lose weight, you might try adding a nutritional supplement of some sort to your diet to provide your body with the proper balance of carbs, fat, sugar and protein. It's hard, I know. Also, along with eating nutritious food, be sure you are not skipping any meals either. Hypoglycemics tend to do best with 6 small meals a day.

Drinking OJ to recover from the symptoms of hypoglycemia is a good quick fix. You should also make sure you get some protein and fat - peanut butter & crackers - cheese - something to maintain the higher glucose levels.
To help control the symptoms, eat 6 to 8 small balanced meals per day instead of 3 larger meals will help stablize the blood glucose levels.
You really need to consult a doctor about your symptoms and then work with a registered dietician to map out a plan for meals.
Good luck! I'm diabetic, and have had hyposgycemic episodes, and they are scary.

Hypoglycemia can be caused by low carb dieting ~ the handling can be as simple as dietary improvements; eat small meals spaced out over the day - say 6 small meals and ensure that you get a balance of protein, carbs, essential fatty acids (a small amount of fats is essential daily) and get hold of some "Span K" which is a potassium supplement which can have immediate beneficial effect. Also, ensure that you knock out the sugar (junk foods) for a couple of months and replace it with a balanced meal! You should be able to turn this round very quickly! Go for it!

Hypoglycemia, like diabetes, can only be controlled. Depending on your age, it can also be a precursor to Diabetes II. You need to monitor your sugar/carbs and increase your protein. Also increase your exercise

There is no cure for this but as long as you make sure you eat, eat several small meals a day, always keep crackers or food on you where ever you go. Most of the time this can be controlled by diet. It is crucial you do not forget to eat.

this depends on what type of hypoglycemia you have - this is called a low blood sugar .. my understanding is that it is to do with insulin production or non production and is a life time thing - you can control it ....

Have you seen a medical doctor(MD)? If not, get to one right away. Make an appointment with your general care practitioner. Don't rely on answers you see here. Get to your doctor. You could be diabetic and it could get worse and you could die. Spending the money to see an MD is preferable to death. You can't take the money with you.

Low carbohydrate diets like the Atkins diet can do away with these conditions.
