Many groups and individuals, not all famous.
The Woodstock Music and Art Fair was held in upstate New York on Max Yasgur's farm in August of 1969.Crowds of up to half-a-million closed the New York Thru-way (freeway)!
Jimi Hendrix closed the show. Richie Havens opened it. Others participating include Canned Heat, the Greatful Dead, Creedence Clearwater Revival , Mountain, Crosby/Stills/Nash & Young (their second performance as a group), The Who, Sly and the Family Stone, Sweetwater, Country Joe (McDonald) the Fish, Melanie Safka, and Santana.
