well, historically, men have had more physically demanding jobs that have taken their toll on their lifespan. As the world becomes more and more modernised (and hopefully civilised) and the need for men to get out there in harsh conditions and be hunters, or the need for men to subject themselves to very harsh factory conditions as it was in the early 20th century....chances are likely that we'll see the life span of men and women equal up a bit more. (but the evolution of this will take a lot of time--it won't happen over night)

I read somewhere that it has to do with height and body mass. The shorter the person the less strain on the body's systems. The article was in reference to all the short old ladies at nursing homes. Since women are normally shorter than men they live longer.

LOL, I like 'Eldude'.
but the reality is that the gaps are closing.
There used to be a time circa the dinosaur age when men did all the strenuous jobs, had the stress of being head of household, fought the wars, and had to do all the food hunting.
Now that women are on a mre even plateau, I think you'll find that men and women are +/- only a few years.

Genetically speaking the X chromosome is really more dominant or stronger than the Y chromosome and men can't argue with this and men do have more vices than women.
Men stress tier heart out more because majority of them think that it's taboo to shed tears even once in a while while women release stress more easily because they have the powerful tool, the TEARS!

Men are more likely to engage in dangerous or violent behavior when they're younger. For instance, they account for the vast majority of the perpetrators of violent crime. Also, women have two X chromosomes, which protects us somewhat from genetic diseases. Since we have a backup, we don't get the diseases as often as men.

A disproportiate amount of money goes towards Womens Health Care. Plus, men are conditioned to be tough. If you are tough, you don't go see a doctor, even if you need it.
