Because alcohol is made in the US and Cannabis has to be imported, also alcohol has a much stronger lobby in government.
They support many campaigns and don't want the competition.

The eternal problem ! Funny how the legal one kills so many ppl a year and the other one doesn't. More alcohol deaths in a day than cannabis in a year. The other thing is, alcohol makes a lot of money to the government through taxes, so they don't really want to get rid of it. If cannabis was legal, do you think many people would use anti-depressants such as Prozac ? Forgot to say that in the US, it's because of people like Kissinger that it's such a problem, in the UK, queen Victoria used to smoke it herself.

Cannabis was completely legal in the UK right up till the First World War. Then they made it illegal.
Reason; cannabis makes you peaceful, alcohol makes you aggressive.
Says it all really.

Not so long ago alcohol was illegal ,in the 1930,s It was called Prohibition and began in the USA. Like cannabis today people used to make there own in secret place,s in the forest, then sell it to the bootleggers to sell on to private '' clubs" in the citys. Hence the name Bootleg Whisky, Rum, ect, ect. Like today cannabis is becoming more exceptable for people who just smoke it, just like alcohol became excepted like it is today. So hang on in there, cannabis will be thought of as a normal thing in the near future.

I easily have a chum who's starting to be Crystal, a go of Northern lights and White Widow and Mazar. we can take the adult males and get the pollen so as that you'll pollinate a number of our females and produce our own seed for destiny grows. I stay in a small city in Florida. the manager of police lives on the subsequent street over. i recognize him, he's conscious me. I only follow my prevalent habitual of work each day and being the best kin guy. human beings do not come and bypass, it truly is for my personal own use and 2 pick acquaintances. Many a time I have asked my self the same question. There was a football match (can't remember who) a few years ago in holland, and England got beat.... and the supporters walked away not even bothered.... coz they had been smoking blow all day!
I smoke blow, have a great laugh and give my husband the best sex he has ever had. Wake up with no hangover and go to work do my job brilliantly.
I get drunk, get arsey, cause an argument, go to bed without sex because of the argument... wake up with a headache... do my job rubbish, then have to go home and apologise.
You tell me which is the best and which is the worst?
Edited to say: Bollox to anyone that says it causes mental health problems... so does alchohol.. that is proven, cannabis use is not proven, its the bible of the government to say it does!

INTERESTING. alchohol is bad for you but when they tried to make it illegal it just made it more popular and made criminals out of everyone and created disrespect for law. they passed the 18th amendment to outlaw alcohol and USA went crazy. so they later repealed it.
they did a similar thing in 1937 with marijuana because they thought it encouraged mexicans to illegally immigrate to USA
( yes, it is true, that is the actual reason for the laws)
but instead of amending the constitution which was too hard, they simply passed a federal tax law that required you to pay a $1 tax on every OZ of it. The catch 22 was that you were in violation of the law if you were in possession of the weed without the tax stamp that proved you had paid the tax ( like cigarettes tax stamp) however you had to have the weed in your possession to buy the stamp ( you could not pay for the stamp and then go get the pot) so if you showed up to buy a tax stamp at a government office with the pot, they arrested you for possession without a stamp, wierd and unfair huh? that is the USA govermnent for you.
they put a lot of people in jail for awhile but soon everyone just ignored the tax act. it was later overturned in supreme court for being unfair and impossible to obey. but not before many people went to jail.
They also launched a huge publicity campaign spreading fear and lies about the drug to discourage people. ( Yes, the government has always used fear and lies to manipulate the public)
SOON they were able to get an actual federal law making it illegal to grow or possess or buy or sell pot and the rest is history.
But the reason was that they wanted to get rid of Mexican illegals, just like today. They were stupid of course as the pot was not bringing the mexicans into the country, the mexicans were bringing the pot. Outlawing it did not affect the traffic, except to make it more expensive and thus more profitable so it actually encouraged its imporation on the black market and made people curious. people quickly realized that it was not as harmful as they were warned and so they began to distrust anything the government tells them. the pice has risen from $2 oz to the current about $200 per oz.
This is still a good rule to follow. Do not believe anything the USA government tells you. As you can see it did nothing to prevent mexicans from entering the country illegally so the reasons for stopping it do not exist. But the law remains

if cannabis was legal, it would solve a fue problems in the world
1) more money for the govenment - yes, they can tax weed if it was legal just like they do ciggys and beer
2) more room in the prisons - get all the weed dealers and suplyers out, more room for the heroin dealers and murders
3) global warming - okey, this is hemp but its neally the same thing, hemp can be used to make paper and run cars
there was a 4th reason but i forgot hehe
