Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Contact. I liked On Golden Pond, and can only hope one day that I will have a husband who I fear to lose as we grow old together and face our own frailty. Akira Kurosawa's Dreams is a beautiful film too. And The Thin Red Line, it's a war movie from the 1990's, but you experience it through the thoughts of several different men as they deal with the horror, and occasional surprising insight of beauty that comes with the experience of wartime. Very deep.

I agree... On Golden Pond was a touching film. I also found the film Driving Miss Daisy to be particularly moving as well.

That's a difficult one. That type of thing has a lot to do with how the viewer is already feeling. Also, timing. A movie that was touching many years ago sometimes just doesn't have the same effect now.

Haven't seen Pond but how can anyone growing up not remember the ending scene in Wizard of Oz! I think I'll miss you the most Scarecrow.....waaaaaah.
For TV it has to be almost any episode of Joan of Arcadia (really sorry to see that cancel) and most episodes of the current show Ghost Whisperer.

When I saw this question 2 movies came to mind. Where the Heart is: that was such a sweet story and I loved it! and The Green Mile: I cried when Mr. Jingles was killed, but so happy when John brought him back, and when they still ended up executing John I cried.

Schindler's List. Gets me every time. And I know it's silly but I cried like a baby when I saw "8 Below'. Then again I cry when I watch Sleeping Beauty (the cartoon) for Pete's sake!
