No. Folic acid is just a great thing to do to begin caring for your baby before its even here. If you do a little research there are some things that i have seen thrown about that are suppose to increase odds which I have begun trying. Wish me luck........Ie.raspberry leaf tea, robittussin, sweet potatoes, orange juice(4 a girl)...etc.... who knows if it will work. I just like to feel that im helping the process(lol) good luck

agree totally with BabyRN ----- the only thing that may assist in helping to get pregnant naturally would be to try adn take Basal Body Temps first thing every morning so you can track your hormone levels and ovulation time. Good luck. But, if there is a chance of you being pregnant......definitely take the folic acid so you give the "little tacker" the best chance to a healthy start.

No, folic acid does nothing to help you conceive at all. It is recommended to help keep you pregnant and prevent problems with the baby.
The reason to take folic acid is to prevent birth defects such as spinal bifida, anacephaly or other spinal cord/brain defects. It's been shown that women who are lacking folic acid in their diet are more likely to have babies with these disorders.

I don't think folic acid has anything to do with getting pg. But it does help with defects. Good luck to you
