About $40 depending on where you are going. If you don't have a lot of luggage you can hop on the blue line from in the airport and avoid a lot of hassle.

I would look all along the blue line-- it's going to be a straight shot out to O'Hare on the blue line (it's around an hour from downtown) and also easy access to downtown for you wife. You said suburbs, but since you also said you were looking in Lincoln Park, so I assumed you were open to the city too? I know nothing about the suburbs, so this answer won't give you any help there. If you want a more upscale neighborhood a little like Lincoln Park, try Wicker Park... it used to be sort of counter culture-y but has moved into a more yuppie population in the last few years, if that appeals to you. That is the Damen stop on the blue line. Any further Northwest and the nieghborhoods are going to get less nice (not bad, but not upscale). This is where I live. In general, they're not dangerous, but they're not really *trendy* either, or at least not the type of trendy I suspect you'd like from the question. A lot of students looking for cheap housing, lots of mexican immigrants, lots of working class families etc. Hope this helped you, I made a lot of assumptions about the type of area you wanted, sorry if I was way off track!

Usually there's a flat rate of like $25, but it's cheaper to take the CTA Blue Line for a inexpensive $2.00 it's worth it. Are you planning to visit here soon? It would be easier to take the train to where you're going and then catch a cab. I can recommend a good cab service that I've used several times it's a company called American Taxi. I don't know their number off hand, but go to Google and they have a website you can access to book cabs and find out their fares from Midway and OHare. Here's the website for CTA it's www.TransitChicago.com.

Metered taxicab service is available at both O'Hare and Midway airports. Trips to and from O'Hare incur a $1 surcharge. Expect to pay about $25-$35 plus tip from O'Hare to Near North and downtown locations, about $17-$27 plus tip from Midway. Some cabs participate in a share-a-ride program in which each cab carries two or three individuals going from the airport to downtown; the cost per person, $15, is substantially lower than the full rate.

Between 25 to 35 dls., if you want to save some money though what you could do is take the "L", the local mass transit train system to the downtown area and get a cab there to your final destination.

Why would you take a cab? The subway called the "EL" is right there. It is cheap and goes straight to downtown. From there, get a cab to your hotel. It's a no brainer.

between $25 and $ 30. Though the CTA train would be cheaper, but a hassle to change and wait and drag the luggage, if you have some.

I am unsure of the amount, but it will be at least $50.00 and up. You would be better to use Metra Train or the local bus system because it is cheaper than taking the cab. Plus, it may bring you to your front doorstep. Here is the Metra Train site: http://www.metrarail.com
