ok...I missed my period over a week ago and went to the doctor for a pregnancy test. he gave me a blood test that came out negative. he said it was not a big deal for me to miss my period. (I was on birth control pills for 6 years) I still have cramps as though I would have it and my husband and I decided that after the period I just missed that we were going to start trying for a baby so I stopped taking my pills (after I already missed my period) what I'm wondering is if its really not a big deal about missing it and if I can still possibly ovulate this month even though I didnt get my period?

Coming off the pill will sometimes make your cycle a little wacky at first. As far as I know the only way you will know when you ovulate is after you get your period and start a new cycle. Several years ago I went off the pill because I wanted to let my body get 'normal' (what was I thinking??) anyway, I didn't have a period for several months. After being back on the pill for about 5 years we decided to start trying to have a baby. My periods are as regular as if I still took them, from day one. So, long story short, I would probably write this month off until you do get your period-take this time to eat, drink and be merry, and then after your period let the baby making begin!!

Good Luck!!!

After you stop taking the pill, it is possible not to get your period for up to 3 months. Personally, I think you can still ovulate.

I stopped taking the pill, got a mini "period" a few days later, and was pregnant 3 weeks later.

In the mean time, continue having sex every few days (in case you do ovulate), and don't be discouraged if it takes a few months for your period to return.

Hope this helps!

Ya, it takes some time to get your body back on track after being on birth control. I never went back to being regular. I miss a period about every 3 months. I just keep wondering... where the hell did it go. ;)

Keep trying... it will happen.
