I had (have) the same problem. They make transistional pants, but those don't fit either. I wound up buying this elastic band from Motherhood Maternity that fits over your regular pants. They are for when you can wiggle into to regular pants, but you can't zip or button them. I think it was called a tummy sleeve, I love mine. It just looks like you are wearing a cami under your top. You can get them in other places, I prefer Walmart because those maternity boutiques are expensive.

Some pants have buttons or snaps on the sides of the panels so they can expand. I would look for pants like that. How about sweatpants, at least for around the house? They also make expandable jeans too. You just have to experiment with the different kinds of pants, or go to many stores to find the right size. It isn't easy, let me tell you. I could only find a few pairs and they just had to last me until I had the baby. Also you wear them after the baby, as your stomach is still big. I didn't wear regular jeans until my baby was about 4 months old. You're stomach just isn't the same afterwards. Good luck!!! PS Have you tried any speciality maternity stores? That might be your best bet.

I had the same prob when i was preggo. U can go to target or motherhood maternity online only. These stores have pants that u purchase as your regular size but will exten to fit your tummy. They have buttons on the sides that u adjust to your growing belly, they are the best maternity pants ever!!!or u can get the *no belly pants*, they just have a strecth to the back so it expands as well. Good Luck and Congrats!!

Most stores such K-Mart, Walmart, Target, Sears, Penney's, etc. all carry maternity clothing. Maternity stores are generally very expensive and these other stores carry suitable clothing. You'll only be wearing them a few months so you don't want to spend a ton of money on maternity clothes. They are designed to fit an expanding pregnant body. When you purchase a maternity clothing item, buy your normal size. For example, if you generally wear size 10 jeans, buy size 10 maternity jeans. Don't be depressed when you have to wear maternity clothes for a little while after you give birth. It takes a few weeks to get back into some regular clothing.

Maternity clothes come in small, medium and large. They even have plus size maternity up to XXL. I wear size 10 normally, but in maternity clothes I wear medium. You have to try them on for yourself to see exactly what size you are. Most pants these days have a little adjustable elastic strip in the waste that adjusts as you get bigger so you don't have to buy a bigger size further in your pregnancy. They also have pants that are low rise to fit under your belly, and those that go all the way over your belly too. Its all about personal preference. Just remember that your hips also get bigger the bigger you get, so try not to buy them too snug in that region. Maternity shirts are really cute these days too so try some of them on too. They also have skirts that you will even be able to wear after your baby is born. Remember you won't be back to your prepregancy weight until a few months after the baby is born, and you'll want to have loose fitting clothes.

I have three kids, so I know exactly what you are going through. Maternity stores do have pants that will adjust through all of your stages. When I was five months, I found that hip hugger jeans were the best, because they went below my belly, but by 7 months, I could no longer wear them. If you go to a maternity store, the associates will help you. I always found them very helpful. Plus they have belly pillows in the dressing room to see what you will look like in a couple months, and to see how they will fit in a couple months. Hope this helps!

First, try looking online for maternity stores. Lucky for you, you weren't pregnant 20 years ago when maternity clothes meant ugly loose, baggy, pants with an ugly turtleneck with some kind of stupid childish design on the neck and an embroidered butterfly in the middle of the chest.

Anyway, the women at maternity stores specialize in fitting pregnant woman of all sizes and shapes and stages. There are some super cute clothes out there. Also, consider having your favoritd jeans tailored to fit wth a maternity stretch center.

It's really worth the drive to look and see what's out there. You will soon know exactlyw hat to expect when it comes to your growing baby and your body.

A good maternity clothing store should have salespeople that know how to help you find the correct fit.
My suggestion, have you tried elastic? I never wore maternity clothes during my first pregnancy, and very few items during the second. Buy leggings and longer shirts (maternity tops are easier to fit correctly and grow with you). It all depends on whether you're working and what kind of dress code you have if you are. I've found dress casual pants that look nice and have elastic waist even at K-Mart.
I know it's one of those pregnancy things that you want to wear maternity clothes, but trust me, it's an over-rated thing. Comfort and cost are usually far more important.
Good Luck!

You should buy the size you were in before you were pregnant, but as you get into your last trimester you may need to go up a size. Motherhood Maturnity was my favorite store and you can order online to save you a trip. Just make sure to look at their measurment chart before choosing a size.

Yes, they have jeans and regular pants that have just some fabric where the belly is, but the rest of the pants have normal cuts. And the best part is, the pants will grow with you, as you get bigger and bigger and bigger. ;)

Remember, it's only temporary. Buy the maternity clothes, and be comfortable. Once you don't need them anymore, you can always throw them on freecycle or craigslist or to your nearest salvation army. :)

Congratulations and good luck!
