Friends are more important than bf. I have an example of my own experience.
I had a very close friend high school, his name is IB. Back then, I had a bf and he also had his sweetheart. But we got along so well that we were liking each other without calling love in our relationship. One day, one of our close friend told me that IB was actually in love with me. This close friend asked IB why in the world he didn't mention his love for me, and asked me to be his gf?. You know what IB answered? He simply said that he was in love me and yes he was desperately wanted me to be his gf, but, normally, there's ups and downs in love relationship, and he didn't want to break up and lost contact w me..he adored our friendship and didn't want to loose me..
Soo if you dare to continue your friendship with him, then, why not??

While both are just as important, you were friends before he became your boyfriend. So, even though maybe you didn't work out in trying to be something more... hold on to what you were before you tried to be b/f & g/f!
Sometimes guys and girls who really care about one another as friends, well...they sort of get confused and think that maybe there is something more...so, they try it out and it fails!
Why?
Well, pretty much because you were probably never meant to be anything more than friends in the first place. Which, isn't such a bad thing to be- it doesn't mean either one of you are wrong or bad...it just means that being great friends is what you should continue to be!

A true friend is more important. Boyfriends will come and go until you finally meet your soul mate. You only get one or two chances to make a true friend. A true friend will be with through all the good times and sit and cry with you during the bad times. You will meet many people in your life, but only one or two will be true friends.

how sad that you didn't make it as lovers, but do you still talk to each other? I think it is better to distance to each other, coz if you still love him then you'll see him with another girl, you'll just get hurt.
