I pursued an advanced program during high school and graduated at sixteen (valedictorian). I'm currently seventeen and seeking a job. I will be attending university next year in California and need to start saving money for tuition. Optimally, I would like to earn $2000 a month. Since I’m a graduate and I’m seventeen; child labor laws do not apply to me. I'm willing to work up to 60 hours a week, as long as I can fulfill my goal. I am aware that employers have to provide pay and half once I surpass forty hours a week, so they maybe reluctant to hire me. However, if I do work sixty hours a week I could be paid $7.15 for the first forty hours and $10.73 for the subsequent twenty, which seems reasonable.
4 * (40X + 1.5(20X))=2000 70x=500 x=7.15 x=10.73
I don't know if I’m being foolishly optimistic because I’m not familiar with the American job market; I recently arrived from overseas. I live in eastern North Carolina and I was wondering if anyone could offer discerning advice.

Depending on your location, minimum wage is different so your calculation might be off. For example, the state of CA has the highest minimum wage in the country at this time. Some cities, for example Chicago, has higher minimum wage than the rest of IL state.

Some places increases the hourly rate based on seniority and performance, others might have bonuses based on meeting certain quota.

Some places avoid paying people for overtime, they would spread out the hours among workers if they can. However, given that the holiday season is around the corner most retail stores will be hiring seasonable workers with a lot of opportunities for overtime pay.

The hourly wage is all over board. Given that your available time is limited (60 hours a week), find the best job you can and do your best.

Best wishes.

regulation yet i'd bypass with activity rather than usefulness tbh all 3 includes debate and writing skills. in terms of transferable skills, all of them look correct to the comparable on the grounds that they extra or much less contain comparable skills. besides the undeniable fact that, i'd say regulation is simpler because of the fact it counts as part of a acknowledged expert qualification and lets you bypass into the regulation profession as properly as different professions history and english lets you bypass into the only disadvantage is, in case you p.c. to bypass into coaching, you're very no longer likely to locate any faculties that teaches regulation GCSE or a point. Your superb probability is to do lecturing at a community uni. on the different hand, history and English are broadly acknowledged matters in maximum faculties. wish this enables

Don't go into a job telling them you have to have overtime of course they aren't going to hire you. You will probably need to find 2 jobs. Ask one of your employers to give you a "set" schedule that way you can tell the other this is what I work at "Bobs" can you work around this? Good luck in the job hunt.
