Yeah, Tony Stark gave Peter a new costume, sometimes Peter is referred to as "Iron Spider" by other comic geeks.
It can also extend four spider-like legs out from his backpack, has gliding capabilities, built-in police scanner/communication device, and other gizmos. The black spider appearance is only appearance, not the alien symbiote that Venom is.

A lot of people liked the black symbiote which eventually became Venom (poor thing!) and this will let Peter change his appearance back that way without having to justify bringing the symbiote back.

I liked the way he shielded the girl from the shooter the first time he wore it and how he pulled the bullet out of his armor when he clobbered the bad guy.

Although, having to use his new armor that time that way was just a little too contrived as as part of the storyline, if you ask me....

That is part of what bothers me about the whole Civil War thing. They are making such sweeping changes that when they paint themselves into a corner, there will be no backing out and Marvel will either be forced to eventually lose sales on stories that nobody wants to read because they will be too complex and 'like real life' (with real government interference) to be enjoyable...

OR they will have to do something that will make it clear that it was a mistake (a hoax, a dream, an imaginary story, the Shaper of Worlds fooling around) to start that storyline in the first place.

It remains to be seen. Only time will tell.

Hmm, really? What issue was this in? If this was in the issue where he had the Alien Symbiote suit, then yes, he can. Otherwise, no he cannot do that. He has to have the Alien Symbiote suit in order to change the context of his Spider-Man suit. I too have read the comics.
