When I startup my PC (I'm on a laptop now) it freezes at the Windows XP Logo screen after a few mins. I have tried starting in safe mode and run Ad-Aware and also tried system restore with no luck. What else can I try to do to fix it?

My understanding is that if you have the original Windows XP disc, you can start that up in Safe Mode, and it eventually gives you the choice to "repair" the Windows installation. There's a pretty good step-by-step set of instructions at the below link. Good luck.

The only thing I can think of to do is run scandisk.
