Why should the American taxpayers bear the burden of freeing the Iraqi people, especially when they can't control the sectarian violence in their midst?

I don't recall the President or Congress calling and asking for MY okay to go to Iraq. As far as I'm concerned, we should've ousted the regime back in 1991, the first time around.

i sees the oil well, but i cannot seize the oil wells.
we should have annexed it as the 51st state, cleaned half the oil out and then sold the country back to them. but the libs would piss and moan. i mean more than normal.

Who gets the money now from all the oil wells over there?? I have been wondering about this for quite some time.

Yeah you're right screw'em should be our attitude. The problem is that then all the secular progressives and socialists would start in with their whining about how Bush was stealing from them.
When is America gonna learn, we rebuilt Japan, we rebuilt Italy, we rebuilt Germany. The best thing you can do as a rotten country is provoke a war with the US so they will take care of you for 50 years afterwards.
