The same reason Brits drive on the opposite side of the road. One thing I find amusing and confusing are those darn round abouts and all the tiny cars on the road. I guess that's why the parking is so narrow and the lots so small! LOL Oh well, to each his/her country's own.
**Okay, the US has always had the roads that way. Maybe because of how the houses were built, to accomodate the cars....who knows? The roads in the US are a lot bigger, like the cars and houses that have closets, compared to the UK. We could sit here for a very long time wondering why each country has it differently but that's how we all grew up, with different ways...that's why all countries are great in it's own way! :)

basically because of the fact he can acquire a international driving licence, does not recommend he will have the means to stress here. he additionally will choose coverage for the vehicle, which suits to be enormously no longer likely, except you're keen to spend some thousand kilos on it. it is offering you have a vehicle for him to stress. no person is going to hire a vehicle to a foreign places 17 year previous. And if its your mothers and dads then they'll pay a fortune to characteristic him on. i does not even difficulty approximately "the different edge of the line" he could no longer get that far.

i'd love to know.
a friend of a friend won a holiday to ireland (from canada, our cars are the same as the USA) and a rental car was included in the package. but, of course, driver's side is on the right, AND it was standard, which she didn't know how to use.
there she was in a foreign country, different side of car/road, and trying to figure out standard while driving...
yikes!

Not only drive opposite, they also put the light 'up' instead of switch it 'on', and eat with the 'opposite' hand....Reaction to look and behave different than their 'ancestors' although speaking the same language, though making some funny changes in accent or spellings.

Not quite sure why the USA drive on the wrong side, the British and some other countries drive on the correct side.

I think all cars on the east side of the Atlantic are fixed so that the driver sits on the right side of the car.
Maybe they have to do things that squirrelly over there to avoid alot of accidents??

It has to do with the location of the foot vs. hand brakes on horse drawn wagons. Wild West vs. London.

I'm just glad our cars are right-hand drive. Can you imagine shifting gears with your left hand?
