American citizens are welcomed in Greece. There are 3 million
Greeks with American passport. You can work in summer during
the crazy touristic period but on winter life is calm in the island

You sound rather scared of living on Mykonos island...
If this is the case, then avoid going to Mykonos.
If not, then consult Greek Embassy or the closest Greek Consulate, to provide you advice...

Good luck!

Check with the nearest Greek consulate. You'll find life on these
islands very pleasant. I have spent several months on four different trips to Greece and have always enjoyed my stays.
