There is not ONE clear gene that codes for homosexuality, so your proof is not going to be found. There are several repeatable genetic tests that can be correlated with higher incidence of homosexuality, and that proves that there is a connection.
My first link is a recent discovery that implicates hormonal conditions in the womb for a higher incidence of homosexuality. The second link is to a research article that weakly linked to specific genes.

Scientific research so far seem to indicate that homosexuality is inborn, insofar as the innate attraction to members of the same sex is concerned.
However, whether one chooses to live and practise the lifestyle of a homosexual is a different matter altogether. A person may be homosexual, but he/she can continue to lead a heterosexual lifestyle in all aspects except not having sexual relations with members of the opposite sex.
At times, it may also be the case that the person would like to lead a homosexual lifestyle, but is unable to do so because of his/her family and/or cultural and/or societal situations/conditions.

I don't have any links to point you to, but I can only tell you that a gay friend of mine has remarked that he has always felt different, and that if he had the choice, he never every would have chosen to be gay. It cost him too much grief in his life before he accepted it.

FYI...genetics determines what you are physically. What a person wants to be (i.e. homosexual) is a choice and that is not determined by genetics.
