I love the South...live there! Born and raised here, and plan to die here (but that's in another 70+ years.) I'm reppin' the Lone Star State of TEXAS!!!

My top picks are all of them, except VA, FL, and KY.

Each state in the South has its own character: Texas has more of a western can-do-will-do spirit; Arkansas has hot springs; Louisiana has Cajun culture and gumbo; Mississippi has gorgeous piney woods; Tennessee, country music; Alabama, Georgia, and the Carolinas have beaches and mountains; Kentucky has the bluegrass and horse farms; Virginia is packed with history; Oklahoma is a lot like Texas, except smaller. Florida is basically Cuba north.

Not to mention, the food, hospitality, neighborly people, and great climate make this the best region in which to live. However, VA and FL have too many yankee transplants, and are really boring outside the major tourist areas. I used to live in KY and did not find the people helpful or neighborly at all, and its winters are cold!

I live in KY, and let me tell you....cold winters are ODD here. We get very little snow. Usually no more than 5-6 inches in an entire winter!

And people are very neighborly here. There was a survey done nationwide a few years ago, and the only state that passed every question was KY. And that includes someone asking for change for a QUARTER!

I live in Louisville, which is a big city, but it still has a small town feel. You can't find that everywhere.

Tennessee the main alluring state. South Carolina, can not clarify it in spite of the undeniable fact that it provides me a extreme. To me there's a ghostly experience in the air. Mississippi has most of the warmest and friendliest people. unlike you, I do like northern Florida. Texas is plenty by using the main distinctive state in the south. particular, if Oklahoma is south, then you particularly defiantly omitted Missouri. Missouri may be between the main underrated states in the union.

I LOVE THE SOUTH! I live in Louisiana and couldn't imagine living anywhere else. I LOVE Texas, too. I visit there frequently and consider it my "home away from home". In my experiences, people in the South are friendlier, more down to earth and have more REAL fun than anywhere else. And the food down here cannot be compared to ANYWHERE ELSE. I have to take Tabasco sauce and Tony Cachere's with me every time I go on vacation! haha! I love it down here and NO ONE could make me leave my HOME!!!

Never been...but I do like Kentucky: why? Kentucky fried chicken of course!! Without Kentucky we'd have no Colonels famous recipe!! That would be an outrage!!

I HATE THE SOUTH - but that's only because I just moved here from CA and I am not used to it yet - it's like stepping back in time for me!

I'm from Illinois, and have visited several southern states. The only one I felt welcome in was Tennessee.
