Who said we were cousins?

I've been looking at my ancestors and while I'm related to the Vikings who came a'pillaging and a'rapind and to Robin of Loxley via a red deer, I don;t see any American connections.

Well, the Vikings came to the north of France, where they eventually became French Huguenots. Not being Catholic, they were "encouraged" to leave the country during the Norman Invasion in 1066. They mixed with the English. Then, the English came to America during the colonial era, including these folks with Viking ancestry [and Anglicized French names].

So you undoubtedly have American cousins.

As many as 1 third of North Americans claim some Irish ancestry. With so much intermarriage between the citizens of the British Isles, this makes all of us cousins in one way or another.
Of course, there is always the 6 degrees of separation to consider as well!

So one plus two equals =cousins, 2nd cousins, 3rd cousins and so on.
That's why america is called the MELTING POT:all our cousins(different races)even those you don't know, and sure wouldn't claim live here in the go ole' U>S>A> and abroad.
This is what really get under my skin about the human era ,Ain't nobdy pure(WHITE: BLACK:RED:BROWN>>ETC)nothing because whenyou(we) bleed, we bleed the same color blood.....This is why when you point , mock, degrade, and belittle another race be careful cause' that could be our (YOUR) cousin...This is out of Love , unconditionally.

cousins being the siblings of your parents brother or sister. so if ireland is englands brother. then when there was a mass exodous many moons ago to america from ireland then america is sort of a cousin state? asuming we are the mother land?

i think it's a very loose term of phrase.. but nice question!
