i just bought an xbox 360. I put my tv on 1080i and my 360 on 1080i. purple lines go bottom to top, why?

the purple lines go from the bottom to the top of my tv. this occurs only when i play my xbox 360. please help me.

Do they get better or worse when you jiggle the video cables? If so try replacing the cables or calling customer service.
